Immigration to Canada

Over the previous half-century, Canada has earned a reputation for accepting immigrants from around the globe.  Canada has one of the highest ratios of foreign-born people among developed countries hosting around one-fifth of the immigrant population. Although the visa application procedure is based on the online system, expert advice can help you get through the process of complex documentation.

Canada has become an even more inviting destination for immigrants in recent years due to its well-regulated immigration policy, career opportunities, and world-class educational institutions. Canada offers two types of visas:

  • Temporary Residence Visas
  • Permanent Residence Visa

Temporary Residence Visa

Pakistani nationals visit Canada, whether to meet family and friends or to enjoy the country’s tourist attractions and welcoming people. Acquiring a Temporary Resident Visa is a must condition in order to visit Canada.

To be considered for a visa, the applicant must meet the following requirements:

  • Good health
  • valid passport or other travel documentation
  • Free from criminal and immigration convictions
  • Demonstration of ties to the applicant’s home country (i.e., a job, a home, financial assets, or family)
  • Adequate amount of money to cover your stay

Permanent Residence Visa

Canada offers an “Express Entry” program for acquiring permanent residency in the country. The Express Entry is an online immigration application procedure and applications can be processed in a time span of fewer than six months. The applicant is required to build a Profile to apply for Permanent Residence (PR) status and fill out the sections. Completion of each section awards some points in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).

The objective of CRS is to predict whether an applicant would thrive in their life in Canada if they were awarded permanent resident status. There are multiple factors that increase the likeliness of an applicant to be awarded the status of permanent residence. Candidates with the highest total points receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent resident status from the Canadian government.

There are multiple categories under the umbrella of the Express Entry program and are listed below:

  • Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
  • Federal Skilled Trader (FST)
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
  • Provincial Nomination Program (PNP)
  • Family Class

Federal Skilled Worker

Pakistanis having expertise backed by experience in specific fields can apply for permanent residency in Canada under this category. CRS points are obtained based on a variety of variables, including competent work experience, language proficiency (English or French), education, funds statement, acceptability, and others such as age, job offer, etc. Depending on the applicant’s ranking, the Canadian government will decide the fate of the application.

Federal Skilled Trader

The Federal Skilled Trades Program accepts applications from skilled employees in a specific trade who want to become permanent residents. The eligibility criteria have the following requirements:

  • 2 years of full-time work experience (or an equivalent amount of part-time work experience) in a skilled trade within the previous 5 years
  • Meet the job requirements for that skilled trade as outlined in the National Occupational Classification
  • A valid job offer or certificate of qualification from Canadian government or federal authority

Canadian Experience Class

The applicants in this category are examined for skilled work accomplished while working in Canada. CRS allocates points to the applicant according to the fields in the points system. Apart from the basic requirements listed above, this category requires an experience letter from the company in a specific occupational category (Managerial, Professional, or Technical). The government of Canada then offers ITAs to the pool’s highest-ranking applicants.

Provincial Nomination Program

This category is based on the provincial quota system where the Federal Government allocates an immigration quota to each province, allowing them to choose their own immigration candidates depending on their own economic needs. Applicants can apply through the provincial rather than through a federal scheme under this program.

There are twelve provinces in the country and each territory has its own eligibility criteria and requirements. The provinces choose the permanent residents based on their economic needs and relevant industries with a shortage of human resources.

Family Class

This class allows a Canadian resident to sponsor a family member. There are two different procedures for this visa application depending upon the location of the sponsored applicant.

  • In-land Sponsorship – the applicant is living in the country as a temporary resident; such an applicant can apply for permanent residence from within Canada
  • Outland Sponsorship – the applicant is residing on Pakistan

Both options need simultaneous completion of two processes:

  • the Sponsor must apply to sponsor the relative
  • the Pakistani national being sponsored must apply for Permanent Residence

Whatever the situation is, we are here to make a visa application procedure a smooth experience and ensure the success of your application.
